After Jimmy Rollins smacks a 2-run double in the top of the 9th to give the Phils a one run lead, Jonathan Papelbon can't hold that lead allowing Ryan Flaherty to rip his 2nd homer of the day over the wall to tie the game. The Phillies put the first two on in the top of the 10th and come up empty, but in the bottom of the 10th with two already out the Orioles go single, HBP and a 3-run walk off homerun for Wilson Betemit to give Paps his 4th loss of the year, along with his 7th blown save. Right fielder Ryan Flaherty cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Baltimore
Orioles defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings 8 to 5 at Camden
Yards.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Baltimore ended up winning it
in the 10th inning. Chris Davis led off and keyed the rally when he drew a
walk. Adam Jones stepped up to the plate and he grounded into a double play.
Matt Wieters then laced a base-hit. Nick Johnson was up next and he was hit
by a pitch. Wilson Betemit stepped into the box and lofted a three-run
'big-fly' making Baltimore the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Baltimore finished with 11 hits in the victory.
The victory was credited to Kevin Gregg(1-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Jonathan Papelbon(3-4) was hit with the loss in relief. He surrendered
4 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
