| In the home opener, the Phils go on cruise control and lead throughout in a game that was not as close as the final score indicates. Cole Hamels was smoking right along, pitching shutout, 3 hit ball until two were out in the bottom of the 9th. Needing one more out for the shutout, that final out never came as the Marlins came alive with a single for Gaby Sanchez, a double for former National Austin Kearns and former Phillie Greg Dobbs knocks a runner home with a single. That spells an end to Hamels' day, and Jonathan Papelbon strikes out next batter Omar Infante to preserve the win. |
