Zach Greinke gets the run support of his life as he strikes out 10 batters in only 5 innings and hits a two-run homerun at the plate, but allows 5 runs when he implodes in the 5th. It didn't matter since the Brewers already led, 12-0! Cody Ransom ripped a bases loaded blast and Zack Greinke reeled off a total of
10 strikeouts as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks by
the score of 12 to 10 at Chase Field.
Ransom had a big evening at the plate. He emptied the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun in the 1st inning, doubled which brought home a run in the 3rd inning
and doubled bringing in a run in the 4th inning. Milwaukee had a total of 12
hits for the game.
Greinke(4-3) got the win allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. Greinke got help from
John Axford who was credited with his 8th save. Wade Miley(5-1) was charged
with the loss. He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up 3 hits and 2
walks.
Greinke was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little
odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a
running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just
strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
