Despite a wide open door with the Nationals on a current four game losing streak, the Phillies have not been able to walk through the door to tie for the division lead as they lose their third straight to St. Louis. This time, Jaime Garcia goes the distance with the four-hit shutout. For the first three games of this four game series, the Cardinals have outscored the Phils 16-5 and won all three games.

Jaime Garcia came through with a solid 9 innings as the St. Louis Cardinals
topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 6 to 0 at Busch
Stadium.
 
Philadelphia was unable to recover after St. Louis went ahead in the bottom of
the 3rd inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits.  That scoring would be
all that was needed.  St. Louis finished with 10 hits in the victory.
 
Garcia(4-4) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Kyle
Kendrick(1-5) suffered the loss.  'He had his 'A' game tonight,' Mike Matheny
said of Garcia.  'Very impressive performance.'
