May 27, 2012 Royals 1, Orioles 0 (Luke Hochevar no-hitter)

Luke Hochevar doesn't get much help from his teammates as Billy Butler knocks the only runner home in the 6th inning, but he didn't need the help as he holds the Orioles to zero hits. He joins Colby Lewis of the Rangers and C. J. Wilson of the Angels in the no-no club for 2012. This will be the first no-hitter for a Royals pitcher in over 20 years, since Bret Saberhagen no-hit the Rangers back in 1991.

Hochevar isn't the only pitcher today to have a damn fine day. The previously mentioned C. J. Wilson holds the Mariners to only one hit, that being a single in the 5th inning for Justin Smoak. Hiroki Kurado of the Yankees goes no-hit ball against Oakland into the 9th inning, holding the A's hitless until Jemile Weeks rips a single with one out in the 9th.

History was made in Baltimore as Luke Hochevar(3-4) tossed a no-hitter and the
Kansas City Royals defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 1 to
0.

Hochevar was obviously at the top of his game as he set the Baltimore batters
down like so many dominoes. He walked 2 Baltimore batters. The Kansas City
players and coaches started to leave Hochevar alone with his thoughts after
the game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around,
you could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an
explosion after every out. Kansas City managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.

Brian Matusz(1-7) was given the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners,
allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.

'I gave it everything I had. It's probably the greatest day of my life,'
Hochevar said. 'I was out there focusing on my catcher's glove, that's all. I
just concentrated on pitching my game.'
