| Roy Halladay welcomes the Phillies back home to the City of Brotherly Love with his second shutout of the year, a 3-hitter over the stumbling Cubs. Halladay goes to 5-0 for the year with the miniscule 0.44 ERA, only two earned runs in 41 innings of work. Tough luck loss for Cubs starter Paul Maholm with 7 innings of two hit, one run ball, but he only gets a loss to show for it. I say stumbling Cubs because their current 6-14 record is their worst start to a season since a 3-17 start in 1997, the year when they started 0-14. That one run, and the only run the Phillies actually needed, was on rookie Freddy Galvis's first major league homerun in the 3rd inning. Galvis, with the lion's share of time at second base so far this year due to Chase Utley being on the extended DL, has not dissapointed at all with his .295 average placing second place on the team, and he leads the team in runs scored and doubles. |
