| With a total of 27 hits and 17 runs between the two teams in the game, big days on offense can be expected. Jimmy Rollins homered for the second straight game and had 3 RBI, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro goes 4 for 5, scores 3 times, drives another one home and steals a base in the losing cause, and even starting pitcher Vance Worley helped his own cause out by driving home two teammates on a double and going 2 for 3 at the plate along with scoring twice. But the two biggest stars of the game are Carlos Ruiz and Hunter Pence. Both had nearly identical games. Ruiz went 3 for 4 with a single, double, and homerun, drove in two and scored twice. But Pence might have had even a better game with a 3 for 3 (single, double and homerun) along with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, 2 walks and a stolen base. The offenses have flown the last three games with combined totals of 20 runs for each team and the hits being 34-30 in favor of the Cubs, with the Cubs winning two of them. |
