April 29, 2012 Cubs 8, Phillies 4

Hoping to have my starter, Kyle Kendrick, go a good portion of the game to give the relief corps a break falls through, as Kendrick allows five runs in 4 innings including four in the 4th inning alone. Despite scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Phillies can't hold on and the Cub sscore 8 unanswered runs. By the time the Phillies got back on the board with a 2-run homer for Jimmy Rollins off of a tiring Matt Garza in the 7th, it was too little too late.

The Chicago (NL) Cubs readily handled Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 8 to
4 at Citizens Bank Park.

Chicago (NL) came up with 4 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 3 hits.
The critical plate appearance was by Jeff Baker who deflated the spirits of
the home town crowd when he belted a three-run homer. Chicago (NL) had 10
hits for the afternoon while Philadelphia had 6.

The victory was credited to Matt Garza(2-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Kyle Kendrick(0-2) suffered the loss. He was not very
effective, surrendering 5 runs in 4 innings.
