May 3, 2010 Braves 4, Phillies 2

Again today the Phillies outhit the Braves (10-8 this time), but end up on the short end of the stick again. Overall for the three game series, the Phillies outhit Atlanta by a wide margin (23-13), but were outscored 8-5 and lost two of the three games. Randall Delgado hangs in just long enough to qualify for the win for Atlanta.

What is more agonizing is a win for the Phillies today would have put them in sole posession of first place in the division. The current four game losing streak for the Washington Nationals has narrowed the gap in the division to half a game, but the Phillies have been unable to capitalize on the Nats stumbling by losing their last two games and still sit a half game out. But all of that may change with the Phils travelling to our nation's capital for a three game series against the Nationals next on the schedule.

Third baseman Juan Francisco hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at Turner
Field where the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to
2.

Atlanta tallied 2 runs in the 5th inning. Freddie Freeman led off and keyed
the rally when he drew a walk. Two outs later Francisco came up and he
popped a two-run clout over the fence. David Ross was the next batter, but
he struck out. Atlanta managed 8 hits in their victory.

Randall Delgado(3-1) got the win allowing 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Delgado
got help from Craig Kimbrel who earned his 6th save. Joe Blanton(0-2) ended
up with the loss.
