| The Phillies, with 16, and the Padres, with 12, have the two lowest homerun totals in the National League coming into today. Ironic that the game is decided on the long ball. Vance Worley pitches 8 shutout innings, and pinch-hitter Eric Kratz blasts his first major league homerun in the bottom of the 8th to put the Phillies up by two runs. UInfortunately, Jonathan Papelbon again can't hold the lead as Orlando Hudson smokes one over the wall for a 2-run shot to tie the game in the 9th. But fear not, Hunter Pence leads off the bottom of the 9th with the walk-off homerun and a Phillies walkoff win for the second game in a row. |
